macOS Apple mail plugin data detectors possible?

Hi Guys,
Is it possible to write a plugin for Apple Mail which basically scans the email body and set some actions based on a regex pattern.

suppose there is some text like

Please check the status of DERCT3456

So the regex will match DERCT3456 and enable some actions on it like it does with dates and ical.

So ideally hovering over DERCT3456 should convert it into a menu which has various options which in turn links to a web address.

Is this possible?
