apple Mail program,!!!!

:D hello
i notice that there is "mail" program in the application that came with snow leopard. so i figure ill try it out and yes i did set my account up. yayyy
1. why does "mail" keep getting all my old email and new email from hotmail? how do i set it so that it only receive new mail. the one that i have never open before?
2. so if i use "mail" to sent an email to a person. will i be able to see that ive sent mail from a normal window let say safari.?
3. do you guys use "mail" or other application,? what kind of application? and how good is it compare to safari and "mail"?
