I am about to delete a gmail account that has been my main account for years. When I delete that account going through Google, with the smart mailbox for that account also be deleted in my Apple Mail?

I looked in that folder today and didn't realize it has saved almost all email over the years. I had the fold hid so I didn't know. Now that I am deleting that account, I'd like to keep that smart folder as a library of all my past emails.

Hmm - I'd create a new mailbox 'on my mac', then move the messages into this before deleting the gmail account.

You think you have problems, I can't get Mail to work at all since I installed el cap. there is a 'message' box that opens, closes then re-opens interminably. Been on line with Apple for three nights now and still no solution.

El Cap's Mail couldn't connect to my gmail accounts until I changed their passwords through the webpage.
