Apple Mail reports "incoming message", but then no new message is coming in.

It happens regularly, that the blue bar gets active on the lower left of Apple Mail 4.5, and a text says "incoming message".

But then there is no incoming message.

I run part of my mail through Google Apps, but I couldn't imagine Apple mail registering incoming junk mail with "incoming message".

Has anybody else noticed this?

That's IMAP doing its thing. It's automatically syncing all your folders, including your Sent and possibly even your Drafts & Trash (depending on how you've got it configured.) IMAP is the only way to go IMHO.

I noticed that there is a spam folder for my google apps mail in Apple mail.

Google apps even sends spam to mail even though I unchecked them mail box in IMAP.

I somehow managed, a while ago, to delete the spam mailbox that gmail has put on my computer, and no more spam from gmail shows up.

I want to do the same with google apps mail.

Just an inbox, and do away with all the other mailboxes.
