Apple Mail Status Bar

My wife is having an issue after upgrading to 7.1 on iphone 5, her status bar doesn't show up in Apple Mail. It shows up everywhere else but when she goes into mail it is just white up there. She said putting on the dark contrast setting didn't help either. Anyone else have this issue?

I still have my 7.0.6 jailbreak so I can't see if it is on each 7.1 or a glitch that a reinstall would help.

I had that randomly happen when I went into Messages on 7.1. Have her quit the app (swiping up in Multitasking view). If that doesn't remedy the problem, try a hard-reboot!

Yes she has rebooted, killed the app and relaunched it. Neither will fix it. Any ideas? It appears the status bar might actually be there but it is white on top of the mostly white on the background of mail so you can't see it.
