This might only be valid for Sweden where I'm looking, but it might be more general.
Google Street View is updated every now and then, in the big cities maybe every 2-3 years or so here.
In Malmö, Sweden it was updated late 2019. Showing in the data before that update, my brother had borrowed my car and parked outside his house. It was a quite special colour, shape and with sunroof, so it was obvious it was my car, and that the photos were taken over just that weekend when he borrowed that car.
Now, when i look at the same area using Apple Maps 3D, I noticed that the car is parked in the same spot as previous Google Street View!
So, my guess is that Apple buys the outdated Street View data from Google and uses that to create the 3D maps in areas Apple hasn't surveyed themselves.
Not exactly breaking news, but hey, it's interesting to see
