Saw in Maps that the provider for satellite imagery is Digitalglobe.

And checking out their webpage, it seems that they have some really awesome satellite images. Unfortunate, it looks like Apple hasnt put in that much of it yet. Hopefully they will when iOS 6 is released. Pretty much all of Sweden has no high resoltion satellite imagery.

Havnt looked that much in other places of the world.
 
I saw the other day that Bing Maps recently was updating 300~ TB of maps. Remember, they have 3D maps, ordinary maps and satellite maps to maintain. Apple is new to all of this so I can imagine it will take them a little while to sort all of the data out, get it onto the CDN's, etc.

Also, from memory, this is a known issue with the low res. satellite imagery.
