Apple Maps freezing

iPhone 7 running iOS 11 and Maps keeps freezing. The app becomes unresponsive for a few seconds but it appears to be the affecting the whole OS/phone as pressing the home button does nothing and the little spinning icon on the status bar freezes.

Anybody having the same issue?
