Hi!

Today I found something on my iPhone 5, that when I use the Satellite-View in my Hometown in Germany, with Maps and with the Find-my-Friends-App, I get 2 different Resolutions. In the Friends-App it's far more sharper. Any Ideas why? Here is a Photo.

Both were taken with WiFi and after Buffering.

The friends app one is definately sharper. Weird as looks to be the same source, one app just showing it at a higher res than the other.

Definitely odd. Can't think of a reason why that would be.

Find your friends still uses Google Maps, that's why.

It's possible that that's the case in Germany but my Find My Friends app uses Apple's maps, not Google's.

I have noticed that on non-3D/Flyover Apple Maps (such as those present on devices such as the iPhone 3GS and 4 and on all apps that use the maps API, which seems to default to 2D maps), the maps are much more detailed and almost every street in sight is labeled.

Quite the opposite on the fully featured Apple Maps.

Yep I've noticed the same thing - on the iphone 5 the maps take on an almost marbled-texture effect (kind of like the high resolution imagery has been blurred in some way).
