Apple Maps satellite imagery on turn by turn?

Is there any way to use satellite imagery on turn by turn in Apple Maps like Google maps, or is this something Apple does not allow?

Nope. You can switch it to the satellite mode while looking up the area, etc., but as soon as you choose the route and hit GO it switches back to standard maps, automatically.

PS Apparently, the Maps are being “rebuilt from the ground up” right now, so perhaps this will result in some new functionality too:
