Things like this are completely normal for us folks living in Europe. Apple Maps gets paid/free roads completely wrong meaning that using „avoid paid roads” switch in Apple Maps is pointless.

rich countries problem… if only that were the only problem in any other country where Apple Maps exists…

So I already knew Toronto has freezing cold winter weather, high taxes, extremely unaffordable housing, terrible traffic, is generally unfriendly, and now I find out it has toll roads. I hope the city has something positive going for it. :)

I am still waiting for the option to avoid gravel/dirt roads. That can't be too hard to implement.
This. And steep gradients, at that. Apple Maps has sent me through the stupidest routes just because they made up the shortest lines as seen vertically from space, when their photogrammetry efforts should tell them, straight away, that they were not the shortest or quickest routes.

this is me $75 toll for using the highway with apple maps (no toll option selected).

costly mistake to learn.

F U Apple

This is Apple Maps weakest point. They need to improve road, POI, and real-time data. We have a split highway with toll lanes, and Apple doesn't even acknowledge the tollway even after numerous reports for years.

Visited the GTA last week (I live in New Jersey) and thought something was up around halfway into my trip when it no longer showed 407 as a toll road. Can't tell you how many times I tried to reroute it to keep me on QEW/401. I thought it was a iOS 26 Beta 2 bug.
