Apple menu disappears after software update on April 17, 2012.

I updated my iMac (Snow Leopard) on April 17,2011 and the Apple menu has now disappeared. I cannot see any of the menu items to shutdown, or update software etc.

I've turned if off using the button twice, but it didn't work. Below is a screenshot. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Try downloading the 10.6.8 1.1 Combo Updater and applying it again.

It fixed itself somehow.

Just some follow up. I went to work and 12 hours later checked the computer and it corrected itself. Don't know why or how.
