Apple Msn Messenger Help

i used msn messenger on my laptop with no problems at all until one day when i swithched on my laptop i had to go through setup assistant when i launched msn messenger from the dock and everyday since then everytime i switch on my lappy and click msn messenger on the dock i have to go through setup assistant everytime i use it, this has resulted in about 60 8ball icons in my chat display icons folder as it adds a new 1 everytime i use msn and go through all this, has anyone any idea what is going on here as it is very frustrating to have to do all this everytime i wish to use msn messenger,
it also means i cant sign in and appear offline to check whos on and to decide if i want to log in i just have to risk it and log in blind if you get what i mean

please help

what has caused this predicament and how do i solve it?
