Considering all these patents, I find it hard to believe that Apple is not making...

Sounds very cool, and Apple hirings DO show an interest in tablet computing.

This could be another "just in case" patent, but let's hope not!

I want the smallest Mac I can get, and if a touchscreen helps, I'm all for it. I can always borrow a keyboard and monitor for full computing just about anyplace I visit. Meanwhile I'd have Mac functionality on the go when a client needs a quick change to a graphic!

Weird...

From what I can tell form the patent drawings & diagrams & animations, this technology is intended for people with grotesque, deformed, double-jointed fingers.

New Tech for our Mutant Friends!

?Newton?reborn?

It's like this, the ipod isn't gona get much better apart from video capacities what more can they put on an mp3 player without making it too complex?

My guess is the Newton is gona come back but i think it will come with anoter name and I don´t think it will be Isomething. :p

I think Apple can make a multimedia controller device that everyone would want to control their music and photos on other computers (like a multimedia Mac linked to the big TV). Read email etc - say a really low power intel chip etc, and maybe just samsung ram for the HDD...

That black PDA-like iPad in the middle picture looks really sweet. Actually, it looks like those tablets they carry around on Star Trek (ironically, called PADDs)

Bring it on! :D

I wouln't mind any of those concepts posted above.

But how about just having a regular physical tactile keyboard, and having just the FRONT half (wrist rest) being a second touch display? A super-trackpad!

Putting widgets there isn't a bad idea--and the Dock too. And Apple's patents already cover ignoring your wrists themselves.

Actually, most Apple patents seem to be for TREE FROGS with grotesque, deformed, double-jointed fingers.

I think that the culprit is the Illustrator pen tool. If left on its default settings, it will make you draw creepy alien hands too!

Did you do those mock-ups Kingsly? They're slick. I had imagined the last (widescreen) one with the optical drive, but I also like the smaller one with the clickwheel. The clickwheel could be pretty useful for one-handed operation, kind of like the Sony Clie's scroll wheel and back button.

I can see where something like this might cannibalize the iPod sales, but I think it depends on the form factor. If it hits the sweet spot between the notebook and iPod, I could definitely see it squeezing into my quiver. ;)

Whatif the new macbook will be a convertible or something like it. They did say it would get a major redesign well why not a convertible mac it could be possible. Look at all the patents that just sprung up before the macbook will be released it could be the macbook convertible or something like it.

If Apple is actually developing all of these technologies, then it has to mean that they're planning to release some sort of tablet.
:) Newton reborn!!

If they would just release "home on iPod" or home on any of these products it would be great. Just to be able to enter contact information as opposed to only being able to view it on ipod, I could replace the treo with a slimmer phone.
