I had a few thousand music downloaded on my iphone from my CDs. When I paid and added apple music, I heard it downloads any music I have and if one was of a lower quality it would download a higher quality if available.
Now I got apple music a few iphones model back. At this point, I don't know if all my music was re-downloaded from Apple music.
My question is if I cancel my Apple Music, I know I can make a backup of my playlist so I don't loose what I listen to, but will I loose my original music because everything that's on my iphone now is probably downloaded from apple music? If so, how do I keep what was originally mine? And its fine if any apple music I downloaded that I didn't pay for from apple music gets deleted. I just don't want to quit, only to see no music on my iphone itunes.

Only if the track is matched in the Apple Music catalog.

That's a possibility. However, I haven't personally verified this information. It would be great if members of our community could share their experiences.

Keep the ripped tracks in your iTunes or Mac Music app. The files should be stored in your computer.
