Hello
I have an iPhone XR iOS 16.0.2, an iMac running Monterey 12.6 and Apple Music version 1.2.5.7.
For many, many years now, I have manually managed my music by dragging music files contained within (previously iTunes but now) Apple Music desktop onto my iPhone. Though I found iTunes much more user-friendly, I have continued to manually manage my music via the desktop Apple Music app.
Up until the last few days, when I plugged my iPhone into my iMac via a USB-C cable, it was recognised by the Finder, I could manually download photos from my iPhone onto the iMac and my iPhone appeared/was recognised by Apple Music and appeared in the left-hand bar (by which I could drag the music files I wanted onto my phone).
However, in just the last few day (no more than 5 at most but I'm not certain), when I connect my phone to the iMac by cable, it's still recognised in Finder, I can download my photos, backup my phone etc. BUT it's not being recognised by Apple Music and, hence, I can't seem to drag music onto my phone nor delete music via Apple Music. This is proving annoying to say the least.
I have tried a few basics to see if anything is wrong (e.g. restarted both iMac and iPhone, used a different cable and port at the back of the iMac, reset location and privacy on the iPhone in case it was a trust issue) but all to no avail as Apple Music still refuses to recognise my iPhone when it's connected.
Is this a problem anyone else has encountered?
Is anyone aware of a solution or knows a trick or two I might not have used yet?
My digital library of music is very large, I keep back-ups of it, don't want to lose it, don't want to use iCloud or anything else. I just want to be able to manually control my music on my iPhone. This is driving me crazy.
I would greatly appreciate any help.
Thank you
