Apple Music received a redesign in iOS 14 with a more personalized Listen Now tab, an improved search experience, autoplay functionality, and more, and these features have just been rolled out to the Android version of the app.

Version 3.4 of Apple Music for Android has also gained a crossfade feature. When enabled through the app's playback settings, songs will overlap and crossfade, with users able to set a crossfade duration of up to 12 seconds. Interestingly, this feature is not available in Apple Music on the iPhone or iPad, although it is an option in the Music app on Mac.

According to the Play Store release notes, Apple Music for Android has also gained sharing to Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat Stories, as well as improved app performance. There's also a security patch, according to an Apple support document.

Are there any numbers on how many people actually use Apple Music on Android devices? Most people I know with Android phones actively dislike Apple products and services...

I forget how much this looks like an Apple app but on Android. But it makes sense given that Google doesn't care about making their apps match iOS either.
Probably because they know people generally don't care. They're more interested in function over form. Even if they did care, I'd bet more people want their apps to look basically the same regardless of ecosystem.

Wow. Looks and feels so much better than before. Even cover art is finally fixed in my library, just make sure to clear cache first from android app settings.

I don't know either, but imagine the haters, if apple didn't have services on multiple platforms. The internet would explode with rage. However, there are families, even people, who have multiple devices and can use Apple Music, iCloud, etc on Windows, android as well as Apple, so there is a need.

the primary device in my car is Android. I do that because there are some apps I like that are only on Android. Also, I don't feel bad leaving it in the car all the time, who's going to take it.

I think people will want foldable displays when they are thinner than today’s devices. A device that can be used in one hand on the go, then open up wide like a tablet in other situations could be incredibly useful, as long as either experience isn’t significantly compromised.

I’m pretty sure that cross fading will come in 14.2 or 14.3 for iOS.
cool to see them bringing features from the desktop client over to mobile. Hopefully they add the ability to import music files and edit meta-data. That would be great.

kind a useless feature in reality. But if people want it, they should provide it
Not really, I've loved Crossfade since the original iPod. It's always maddened me it wasn't available on iOS.

Surely this will come to iOS in beta soon? Have Apple EVER released a feature for another platform before/over one of their own before?

I came on here just to see if I missed something and Crossfade had finally been added to iOS. So odd that it is coming to Android but 14 major versions of iOS later it is still absent. This was a feature of the iPod so it cannot be that hard to implement. It is fantastic for listening to music while running or at the gym.

Maybe crossfade is much more work to add to iOS because the way AM is tied into the OS, so it must be added their first in the API, player, control center, etc.
