What I had / Did

Mid 2012 MBP that had all my music saved onto its hard drive. This MBP hard drive is no longer available to me however I am an Apple Music subscriber so all of the locally stored music has been either upload or matched in Apple Music

What I have now / want to do

Brand new 2019 MBP. Obviously I log into Apple Music and all of my music is in the cloud but none of it is stored locally anymore, it has a cloud symbol next to it.

I now want to add new music from some CD's I ordered and have this ripped onto a memory card. I want to be able to use this external memory card as my music storage location (I don't want to store music on the MacBook itself)

I know all about holding down the option key when opening Apple Music and choosing where my music is saved what I am unsure about is all the information above mainly that all the music currently in Apple Music cloud, will that still be there if I create a new Apple Music folder on an external drive or will it delete it all and make these new few CD's that I want to add be all there is.

I really hope I have explained myself properly and that someone can ease my concerns. Thank you.
