Ever since 15.6 (and 15.6.1 included) my music randomly stops playing after finishing a song. It doesn't always happen, and it doesn't always seem to happen to the same songs either. It's especially bad on my iPhone which has the music saved to the device, but it also happens on my iPad which streams.

I did some Googling before and came up with a suggestion to disable Atmos, disable hi-res, remove all songs, redownload, etc. Unfortunately nothing has worked so far. Is this a bug on Apple's side of things? Do more people experience this? I had no issues before 15.6.

You’re not alone. And apple doesn’t seem to know this is going on. Bought new iPad a month ago and had this happening regularly. Thought it was a problem with the restoration or with songs ported over. Nope. chatted with four support people last week. Per their suggestions I uninstalled and reinstalled the music app. Nope. Restored to factory settings and then from backup. Nope. Restored to factory settings and kept it there. Nope. Music would readh the end of a song and…stop. was still claiming it was playing and streaming to homepod mini or other speakers (even the iPad speakers). and was draining power. But needed to press “forward” to get it working again. Didn’t matter if songs were in cloud or on iPad. Didn’t matter what format they were in. Didn’t happen on iMac or iPhone though. even talked to a supreme supervisor. And went to Genius Bar as we reached the point where software was being ruled out as the problem. (A bug in the Music app…didn’t seem to be on their radar.).

Genius Bar gave me a replacement iPad. And….it’s also doing it. Thing I noticed….if the song is going to stop, the tell is that the timer/counter will stay at zero/length of the song without progressing or changing. The song will play, but the counter will stay static. Then reach the end of the song and…stop.

hopefully IOS 16 will fix this?
