Apple Music is rolling out a small update to its latest weekly playlist, renaming the "Get Up! Mix" to simply "Workout Mix" (via MacStories' John Voorhees). Apple launched the "Get Up! Mix" in March 2020, boosting the weekly curated playlist count to five, including "Favorites Mix," "Friends Mix," "New Music Mix," and "Chill Mix."

The "Get Up! Mix" was built around curating a collection of songs to help Apple Music subscribers get up and move, so the switch to a direct "Workout Mix" makes sense. The new name appears to be rolling out slowly today.

Apple began a large-scale playlist rebranding in 2019, switching "The A-List: Dance" to "danceXL," "The A-List: Hip-Hop" to "Rap Life," "The A-List: Alternative" to "ALT CTRL," and "Best of the Week" to "New Music Daily." All of the playlists essentially stayed the same, but ditched "The A-List" moniker that had been around since ‌Apple Music‌ launched in 2015.

Apple Music received a few updates in iOS 14 this month, with a new "Listen Now" tab that highlights new playlists, albums, and artists that match your listening tastes. Apple Music playlists in the Listen Now section feature larger artwork that is also animated, and pressing the play, pause, next, and back buttons on the Now Playing screen in the app‌ provides haptic feedback.

Still shows up as Get Up! Mix for me in the U.K.

Have noticed they’ve now got Replay playlists for me from the last five years however.

I feel like there are a lot of more important updates they could make on Apple Music. Like giving the user the option to blanket organize their personal playlists based on date added instead of having to individually scroll each song to where they want (while also maintaining this feature but adding the above as an additional option). Also, they could add a feature that allows me to control whatever is playing on my HomePod or other device that is playing Apple Music from the Mac/iPhone App (currently you can do so only if you airplay it in, I'm talking "Hey Siri play this" and it showing up across all devices to control). Also, the Mac OS app is clunky so that could really use an update. Lastly, making playlist updates/changes more efficient.

But hey...new playlist names...good; very very good....

Wonder if this will end up having a different blend of music. This could potentially be nice to have a workout mix displayed prominently so I don't have to go digging through playlists as much.

Personally, my Get Up Mix is always one of my favorites -- the songs it picks for my tastes are always on target and always find new stuff that I like that I didn't even know was out there ...

I agree. Get Up and Favorites are the 2 I can trust. New Music and Chill are generally terrible.

I really liked "Get Up" it was my early morning while working music. I wouldn't workout to the music though, its just more of an upbeat music for mornings. (I hate mornings)

Are we sure this isn't a bug? Because my "Favorites Mix" playlist is showing as "Favourites Mix" as the playlist art. I'm in the US and my region has always been set to the US.

Sounds like a playlist title that's more appropriate for getting lazy bums who sleep in too much all the time (aka me) out of bed earlier

I actually canceled my Spotify subscription a week ago. Mostly because I felt that paying for both and barely using either was a bit stupid.

I did however forget to state my reason for canceling as “you are messing with JRE”..

Spotify has better music discovery for me. The GetUp playlist is alright but I find it funny that they put 10 trance songs first and then a random radio pop song and finishes the list with 11 metal/rock songs.

Most that I dont like.

I get Apple Music for free and it still costs too much. Spotify (or anything else) is just that much better. Fix the interface, Apple. Fix the Music app on the Mac. The whole Apple Music platform is an embarrassment and Steve is spinning.

Steve is dead for gods sake...move on

Right now, following the updates they’ve made over the last 12 months or so, Apple Music is in a really good place in my experience. Great recommendations, great radio options, better navigation and design. Just a few niggles I hope they iron out.

Wierd. They went from a name with three words and some punctuation to a name with words and no punctuation. Sounds like a downgrade.

I’d like to see them add a recording of somebody eating something crunchy and they could add that to a playlist called “Trail Mix” 😉
