Apple today announced Apple Music Sessions, an exclusive new line of live releases and covers in Spatial Audio.

The sessions, recorded in Apple Music studios around the world, give artists the opportunity to reimagine and recreate hits from their back catalog of music, as well as creative covers of classic songs. The sessions are also recorded to provide a companion live music video on Apple Music.

Apple Music Sessions launch today with releases from Carrie Underwood and Tenille Townes, recorded in Apple Music's new studio in Nashville, Tennessee, with sessions from Ronnie Dunn, Ingrid Andress, and others lined up for the future across multiple genres.

And maybe one day they will release a version of Music app for macOS that will be smooth, bug free, well thought out and intuitive.

But it will take a long time and we will have to wait for some product managers to retire.

I prefer to discover music on Youtube than to wait for the 2-3 seconds of latency when I change the music or change the progression. (Mac Mini M1 with AirPods Pro).

Really, the "Next Song" action is more quick on Youtube with a webpage and a video player than the buggy macOS Music app.

Here we go. Apple knows that original content is what will differentiate the streaming services and they are in the best position in the entertainment industry to do so… from the cameras and microphones to the screens and headphones.

I wish Apple would buy Patreon, or something to that degree. So many artists release music there that‘s not in the Apple Music library, and it’s a huge pain to ever access it.

Or, ya know, let us import Music into our library without a PC or Mac.

^THIS. I recently had to add a single mp3 for an automation at work and forgot what a pain it was and that I couldn’t simple airdrop it to my iPad and have it work.

It would be nice if Apple music would include live concerts. Video that is through Apple TV. There is just not enough of this content now that DVD/Blu-ray is almost dead.

Too bad the “artists” are typically pop crap when they feature stuff. I miss the 90s when interesting music could be mainstream enough

Carrie Underwood and Tenille Townes are both really talented artists lol. Tenille Townes is an amazing songwriter.

Love these! Both sessions sound fantastic. Looks like a really cool space. This is one of the things I loved about Spotify, so I'm happy to see Apple follow suit.

And yet the music videos of these sessions are NOT in spatial audio. Which is funny because I think spatial audio might be more compelling when watching video than when just listening to music.

Although I could find the referenced sessions by searching by artist name, there does not seem to be a way to search by “Apple Music Sessions” to list all the sessions available. Anyone else find a way?

If you're easily confused (like me) and assumed these are video, they're not. They're audio then video. Took me ages to figure that out and was just expecting a little concert to stream but it's 3 audio tracks then the video. Slightly strange way of doing things but eh.

The app’s most interesting stuff is buried. You’re reliant on their black box algorithm to recommend or keep highlighted stuff you would like.

Users should be able to configure the “home” view to sections they care about such as this new live sessions or the DJ mixed section.

The default listen now is almost as bad as it was when the service launched, such as pushing the new Pink album on everyone even though they have zero history of interest in that artist.

Apple Music is apparently under resourced.
