Apple Music sync playlist question

After I sync a playlist to the Apple Watch, can I then delete the playlist from local storage on my iPhone and will it still stay on the watch? I will be getting an Apple Watch soon so cannot test this yet. Thanks.

While I have only used my Watch once for music (use my iPhone) I'm pretty sure this won't work. Sync means they must be the same. If you change one they are no longer in sync.

Again someone with experience my correct me but at least I'm bumping your thread and stating a conversation.
