Apple was named the world's most valuable brand in Interbrand's 2017 Best Global Brands ranking this week, marking Apple's fifth consecutive year in the position.

Apple's Interbrand valuation was up three percent, coming in at $184.15 billion to beat out Google ($141.7B), Microsoft ($80B), Coca-Cola ($69.7B), Amazon ($64.8B), and Samsung ($59.3B). Apple and Google together have held the top two positions for several years, but Microsoft's #3 position is new and comes thanks to double-digit percent growth.

Though Apple struggled with its first year-over-year revenue decline in 2016 due to flagging iPhone sales, the company rebounded during the first quarter of 2017 to set new revenue records and has maintained its sales pace throughout the year.

Apple was not included in the top five Growing Brands category, with Facebook (48 percent growth), Amazon (29 percent), Adobe (19 percent), Adidas (17 percent), and Starbucks (16 percent) leading that list.

To determine a brand's cumulative value, Interbrand considers the financial performance of branded products products and services, the role the brand plays in influencing customer choice, and the strength the brand has to command a premium price.

Along with Interbrand, several other companies offer brand rankings, like Forbes, and Apple often tops those lists as well.

Considering their sloppiness so far this year they certainly don’t deserve it, and I’m usually happy for Apple when they receive this.
I'm sure you're aware this is a ranking based upon:

• The financial performance of the branded products and services
• The role the brand plays in influencing customer choice
• The strength the brand has to command a premium price or secure earnings for the company

Based upon those 3 criteria they absolutely do deserve it, minor annoyances you may have notwithstanding. I'm hard-pressed to find perfection amongst any of those companies on the list.

amazon's 29% growth is super impressive!!

On a sidenote, I completely agree. Amazon continually expands services offered and they're expansive product line. I think their customer service is a large part of Their success as well.

Just replaying the greatest hits! As long as people keep predicting Apple's imminent failure, it will continue to be amusing to watch them be wrong.

I think most of them are realizing that's it's a waste of time and only the truly miserable among them will continue. Of course, criticism of Apple can be legitimately justified from time to time based on some of their practices (like not offering a 128GB option, sticking with IP67, etc.)

Yep. I wonder how close their technology business is to their retail business now.

No, it proves you're out of original material.

To be fair... The general consensus around Apple is that they’re doomed. Which is hilarious considering how extremely well they’re doing.

I don’t mind people being tongue in cheek saying that Apple is doomed. I’d much rather read that than people who are up in arms over things like the police being able to point a person’s phone at their face or not being able to charge and listen at the same time. *rolls eyes*

Predicting that Apple is doomed is like predicting that the world will end some day. If you look far enough into the future, everything will end at some point.

What amuses me is that sugared water still continues to perform really well. No wonder we have obesity problem and health issues due to over consumption of sweets.
It's a lot healthier than face-timing somebody while you're driving, like the idiot I saw doing it this morning.

Same could be said for the tech companies. No wonder we have such an addiction to consumerism and social media when everyone's face is stuffed into their phone 24/7.
