iPhone 15 pro. When I got it, all was well. I could type no problem.

About six months ago maybe some software update absolutely ruined the typing experience.

Nothing but typos now, the suggested words move around so by the time you go to select one it's moved. Wrong letters getting pressed etc. the keyboard enters down after every word sometimes so suddenly you're

It is absolutely ridiculous. Exhausting. I pick up my Lumia from like 2013 and the keyboard is incredibly easy to type on and type without any typos or errors. If Microsoft could figure it out after three years in the market, how can Apple fumble this so bad.

I don't know what happened but it is horrendous now.

I haven't noticed this since I turned off all forms of autocorrect, and use swipe to text when I don't feel like typing, but I agree the default keyboard absolutely sucks. Im not an android guy, but why the heck don't we have a number row? All the dead space for a emoji button and a redundant speech to text button could be removed and used to make the keyboard way more useful. Emojis can go into the plus on the left side of the text bar. They could even make it an option to have dead space like it is now or have a number row at the top.

In other words, its been bad. It's just getting worse it seems.

I'm glad it's not just me. Agreed on the numbers row instead of the non consistent variables that show up there

Something pushing on the Return button unintentionally?
  • Adjust your grip.
  • Remove case/screen protector. (They might be flawed and putting excess pressure somewhere on that corner)
  • If the problem persists, try Gboard, Swiftkey or some other keyboard.
  • Once you have eliminated the obvious, try to fiddle with the Touch settings under Accessibility if the issue is still there.

Don’t really have an issue. Typing on a tiny keyboard will bring mistakes on any platform and I’ve used them all. By not rushing my result is generally acceptable.

I came from BlackBerry 10 on a red developer edition Z10. I almost never made mistakes on the on screen keyboard. I moved to iPhone on the iPhone 6s and have used it ever since.

I still cannot type as well on an iPhone onscreen keyboard as I can on a BlackBerry Z10 onscreen keyboard. It was almost flawless.

I agree. It feels like my IP15Pro somehow lags in reacting to my typing and/or it registers at the wrong location/the wrong letter. Sometimes, but I'm not sure if this is related, it doesn't register touch at all. I can literally push a button several times and there's no response, not even a graphical display of touch being registered. There's just nothing. And yes, I've hard booted it several times.

But the writing is off also. It's noticeably worse in suggesting words and very often it can't suggest a correct spelling when it's extremely obvious what word you're after ("obvios", not real example but example of how strange it can be sometimes). It's like it's using the wrong dictionary when it's very clear I'm writing in English. And yes I have several dictionaries and language keyboards installed, but it shouldn't be that hard to figure out.

I remember how much I was hating the iOS keyboard in the past because of weird auto corrections in German. But now it’s much worse and I always love to swipe and somehow I mostly get the wrong words.

Gboard is mostly dead on iOS and Swiftkey isn’t perfect for me either.

Yes! This exact thing happens to me
Tapping multiple times because it simply didn't register. Or I see it register on the screen but nothing happens

I always joke to myself: am I a vampire?

So frustrating.

I agree with the comments on the virtual keyboard in iOS/iPadOS. But it’s not just that. The accessory Magic Keyboard (the one that’s been around for a few years) on my 13-inch iPad Air constantly makes mistakes. Just as with the virtual version, I suspect Magic Keyboard (or perhaps iOS itself) just can’t keep up with anything beyond the slowest typing.

Just as annoying: If one taps to locate the cursor on the screen (or even uses the track pad), your cursor is often not where you think it is when you begin typing.
