I wonder why Apple doesn't offer FaceID or at least password lock for their apps like Messages, Calendar, Notes and so on?

I use the FaceID lock option for everything possible like banking, payment apps, social media apps and a lot of other apps.

I can't believe Apple still doesn't have this as an option, it should be turned off by default but you should be able to turn it on also. I know some people will say "use the Screen Time option" but that's a headache especially when it's my personal device and not someone else's (child).

I don't follow Apple all that much besides what I see on MacRumors whenever I get on so I don't know if this is something Apple is already working on or if it's in a future beta, etc.

I’m not sure why this is needed if the phone itself is password/FaceID locked or are you in the habit of giving your phone to people?

Of note, you can password lock specific notes by “locking” them.

You can also lock out specific apps using Screen Time.

Based off your idea then why would apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, Bank of America, etc have FaceID/password options to unlock them even though it’s on your personal device…

Text messages are very important to most people, to have no way to be able to secure the app doesn’t make sense.

To your answer, yes you can “lock” individual notes but you can’t lock the entire Notes app which makes no sense as well.

The Screen Time app is a headache because this is my personal device plus you can only password protect apps (no FaceID unlock) so typing in my long alphanumeric password every single time I want to open a locked app would suck!

I guess this isn’t important to Apple, I just feel it should at least be an option and I don’t see why it isn’t that’s all

That’s the real feedback versus your discussion title wording of “needs.” And, perhaps, Apple will implement such a feature, one day. (Remember to give your feedback directly to Apple.)

You don’t need to have a long, complex passcode/word. This is additional protection/security, after all.

With Screen Time, you can also create a dedicated passcode to secure settings, so only you can extend time or make changes. Make sure to choose a passcode that's different from the passcode that you use to unlock your device.

Method 2 explains the Screen Time approach.
