Apple News+ Apple News + not verifying my newspaper subscription

I currently subscribe to the Chicago Tribune directly through them and not through Apple. The News app allows you to verify subscription through the app, but over the last week and a half I have been getting the error message below. I have tried clearing my web data, deleting and reinstalling the News app, but nothing works. Is anyone else having this issue? Trying to figure out if this is an issue on my end or an Apple News/Chicago Tribune issue.
