Jony Ive explains motivation behind Apple’s decision to sponsor the 2016 Met Gala
Not really a big fan of this decision to move towards the fashion industry. I mean seriously? Why would you sponsor a fashion event? Have you forgotten your roots? Do the words Apple COMPUTER ring a bell? Why can't we stick to making functional, well made products that provide a great user experience for the consumer?
I don't think Apple moving into the fashion industry is a good idea. The fashion trends change faster than the wind changes directions, and I don't see any good (unless you count "trendy" looking devices as a plus) coming from a move in this direction. The reason I started using Apple products was because they were easy to use and provided a fantastic user experience, along with the fact that their products are extremely high quality. Now, it's kind of hard to say a lot of those things (for me). The fashion industry is extremely fickle, and I feel that if Apple enters it, their products will take on some parts of the fickle nature.
I don't hate Apple, but why can't they return to their core values and focus back on what's important, rather than put their hand in 50 different markets and change the direction of how the company goes about its business?
