apple not letting new users sign up for .mac at this time?

With MobileMe less than 1 month away, I wanted to sign up for the free 60 day trial of .mac and than transition over to mobileme. However, the link via my imac just redirects me to the mobileme webpage.

So is there any way to sign up for a .mac account at this point (June 14 2008?)

Are you sure? I just bought a new .Mac account as I want to keep my .Mac email address rather than the new MobileMe email address. Can anyone confirm this? Is it only for trials or they are no longer accepting .Mac applications??

Never mind, you were right. The link my iMac and Macbook gave me redirected me to mobileme.

However, I did a google search for ".mac sign up" and it sent me to the old .mac webpage so I could sign up for a new trial account.
