Apple/O2/CPW - iPhone 3G S Pay&Go - Activate at home?

I am going to be getting the iPhone 3G S tomorrow at some point but I was wondering if they open the box up and activate it etc...

I am getting this as a gift for my other half and want it sealed!

If you get it from the apple store I guarantee they wont open the box if you dont want to. As for O2/CPW im not sure, as they may want you to top up and activate the payg sim.

I would most probably get it through a Apple Store. Or maybe an o2 store on the way through the city tomorrow if I am tempted! LOL.
