Apple has launched a summer promotion for Apple Card owners, offering additional cash back from merchants that include HotelTonight, Petco, StubHub, Ray-Ban, Crocs, Fandango, Yeti, and J.Crew.

Through July 31, Apple Pay purchases made with Apple Card from the above listed retailers will provide users with four percent Daily Cash, up from the standard two percent for an Apple Pay purchase. Customers can get four percent cash back on up to $3,000 in purchases.
Now through July 31, turn what would be 2% real cash1 back into 4% when making a purchase in apps or on the web using Apple Card with Apple Pay at StubHub, Petco, HotelTonight, Fandango, Yeti, J.Crew, Ray-Ban, and Crocs. There's no need to enroll. Simply double your Daily Cash.
Apple has an established Apple Card deal with merchants like Nike, Panera Bread, Walgreens, and Ace Hardware, offering three percent cash back for all purchases, but the four percent cash return is a limited time summer deal with participating retailers.

I can't think of $3,000 worth of crap I'd want to buy at these places, just to get $120. Guess it's nice if you were already planning to shop at one of these stores.

Would be nice if they instead offered this for normal, every day things. Like grocery stores, gas stations... who shops at Ray-Ban or Crocs that frequently?

Man, this is tough. I could use one of my existing cards that offer 5% off on entire categories of purchases, or I could sign up for The Magical And Amazing Apple Card™, the Best Credit Card Apple Has Ever Offered, and get less off at a handful of individual stores.

Maybe I'll sleep on it and the answer will become clear tomorrow.

I can see why those business would be looking for incentives, but still not enough for me…

Apple doesn't select which retailers offer 4%. It's the retailers that give the discount to Apple Card owners. The same retailers offer various cash back discounts on Amex, Chase, and Citi cards. If you really like these retailers, get a card from each issuer and max out each one.

They only offer this for things on which the profit margin has already taken into account the extra cash back and then some.

Ditto, not my kind of stores. I get my cat supplies from Walmart and Amazon and pay way less than I would at Petco! I’ve never shopped at any of those other stores nor have any desire to.

Quite possible to spend over $1000 on a radically overpriced Yeti cooler that can hold a "quartered moose." Then you get 4% back AND extra respect at the campground.

Except I can get 5% at Best Buy with their card along with a sale price or price match, Apple Care+ with purchase since I Have BB Total Tech Protection and 2 month return window. I did buy the 16" and Studio display at Apple store but thats because I wanted those on day one and I wanted to pay for the 3 year AC+

Best Buy has romanced me away form Apple Store

In other news, merchants that include (fill in the blanks) are silently raising their prices by 4% in July. 🤣

Oooh, good, 4% cash back when I go see Thor: Love and Thunder that will be totally offset by the service fees for buying tickets from Fandango instead of … not buying from Fandango and not paying a service fee.
Haven’t been to petco in ages. That’s about the only thing I’d possibly use in the next month.
Petco is probably the only interesting one on this list for me. I stopped going to Petsmart back when Apple Pay first came out; no idea if Petsmart supports contactless payment now, but I also have no real desire to find out.
