Apple today sent out emails to some former Apple Arcade subscribers, offering them another month of free access.

It's not entirely clear how many people are receiving the additional month of Apple Arcade service to try it out, but the emails may be going out to those who tried Apple Arcade for a month and then canceled it after the trial period was over.

For customers who used their free month trial right when the Apple Arcade service came out, there was a limited number of games available. Apple has been regularly releasing new Apple Arcade games and there are now over a hundred, all of which are free from in-app purchases and ads.

Apple may be wanting to provide those early subscribers with a chance to test the service in its more fleshed out form, with many more game titles to choose from. Those who received the email can tap on the "Get Started" text to receive a promo code to input into Apple Arcade for the additional free month.

After a one-month free trial, Apple Arcade is priced at $4.99 per month, and that price tag provides access for the whole family.

This actually makes a lot of sense. However I wouldn't want 2 different remotes. Processor for both can probably get a bump too.

From the perspective of someone that's played consoles for years (PlayStation, now on PS4), I find it hard to jump into Arcade. Perhaps that's part of the problem here? It looks like games have gotten better, but I feel like the console offerings are superior, both gameplay and story wise -- not to mention graphics, though this gap looks like it's getting smaller.

I need this to be real.

As far as Apple Arcade goes, I loved Sneaky Sasquatch. But it wasn’t enough to keep me paying every month. That being said... If I get this promo email, I’ll give it another go.

If the games were like the best iOS games I’d sign up immediately, sadly in my experience of Apple TV arcade they aren’t ... probably limited by current hardware

roll on a powerful new Apple TV !

It makes sense, when my year runs out of AppleTV+ and I cancel. I could see them offering me a month or two free at some point.

I think they originally planned to have more TV there by the time the year ran out and I'm assuming that COVID-19 had something to do with it. So another longer-than-a-week trial later is a good idea there too.

This is by far the worse game service on the planet. Simple, poorly thought out games. Looks like Apple focused on quantity here over quality. I can't imagine this being a very popular service. I cancelled ours a long time ago.

Man...I want to love Apple Arcade so badly, but its just not there, and I hope Apple doesn't give up on it. They desperately need to get some real games on there. Oceanhorn 2 is proof enough for me that the possibilities are there, thats a great game.

Bar neo cab and what the golf, I wasn’t overly impressed. Most of them are just throw away games you play for a few minutes and forget about. I’d rather spend on a full blown PS4 or switch game than this! For example, I recently bought Resi 2 for £15 and it’s fantastic! I’d take that over three months of Arcade anyday!

And it is still not available in Hong Kong and China. For some strange reason when the two should be operating differently.

Apple Arcade is aiming at kids, sort of below 12. Teens tends to play different sort of games.

I wish they could do retro games. Old Saga and Nintendo titles from the 90s. The 2D Games. Pick 20 well known titles and include it with the subscription.

It is the sort of like Apple Music, they keep thinking people "wants" to discover new music. When most people actually dont want that. We discover new music via other method. Apple Music is only for "access". They try that stupid next song, Radio , and finally with iOS 14, Apple Music will be like design feature parity with Spotify. Five years after its introduction. They added features that most Music Streaming services had for nearly a decade.

It is the same with Apple Arcade. I dont think it will work, along with Apple News + and Apple TV. At least not in its current format and forms.

I’d like a chance to try again. I thought, like most times subscriptions, that if I canceled it would last until the end date of the trial. I was wrong, I always cancel trials right away as to not get charged with recurring. This service cuts your access immediately.

Life long console and PC gamer here, and occasional time wasting iOS gamer. Mobile gaming (iOS, Android) has always kind of sucked, and although there are games with great graphics now, I think ultimately what limits it is a lack of joysticks, and potentially even physical buttons. I think screens are large enough now on the Pro model, and iPads, but the touch interface sucks for games. The nintendo switch is how you do mobile gaming well. The fact that you can transform the game from a limited screen size, to console level by hooking it up to a TV is next level too - basically eradicates the limitations of mobile.

Apple Arcade supports Playstation and Xbox controllers as well as several other 3rd part controllers. Also its on your tv if you an Apple TV.

You can play on the TV or iPad with your controllers, so that's not a deal breaker to me. It's just subscriptions are now EVERYWHERE, and this model is not good for everything - a collection of small, simple, sometimes basically bad games is definitely not one of these things I'd be willing to pay $5 a month or $50 a year. I was happy (ecstatic) to shell out $100 for the new Borderlands 3 Super Deluxe in pre-order, but that's a REAL game (with four future DLCs and seasonal events and non-stop development, rebalancing etc) and I pay for it once.

They really need to create a bundle of all their subscription stuff (Music, TV+, Arcade) under one cheap sub, then they can have (more of) my money.
