I noticed that the 15 inch MacBook Air box doesn’t come wrapped in plastic. Is that something that has just started, or are some of them still coming with plastic shrink wrap?

The M2 13 I got last week had plastic though.
The 14 and 16” MBPs have used the same pull tabs as the 15” Air since they were first released in 2021. iPhones and iPads also use the pull tabs now. I don’t remember how the 13” Airs have been coming through lately.

It should still be sealed, there are tabs to rip open that you can't close again. That should be enough to tell if the box has been opened before. It's probably better than wrapping since anyone can re-wrap it at home with a cheap device.

Seems like the 13" MBA still comes wrapped in plastic but the 15" doesn't
It does. My 13" M2 arrived today (BTO configuration from the Apple Store shipped directly from China) and was wrapped in plastic. Seems they did not change to pull tabs for some reason on the 13" MacBook Air.
