ALDI today announced it will now accept all forms of contactless payments, including Apple Pay, at all of its nearly 1,700 stores in the United States.

Shoppers can pay for their groceries by tapping their contactless-enabled bank card, smartphone or other wearable device on a payment terminal. Contactless payments are safe and secure, and have the same protection as making a payment with your PIN.
Some other grocery stores that accept Apple Pay in the United States include select Giant Food, Wegmans, BI-LO, Food Lion, Save Mart, Shop 'n Save, Trader Joe's, Winn-Dixie, Whole Foods, and United Supermarkets locations.

Apple's financial chief Luca Maestri recently said Apple Pay is by far the number one NFC-based payment service on mobile devices, with nearly 90 percent of all transactions globally--three out of four happen outside the United States.

The Fresh Market supports Apple Pay too, they just didn’t make a big deal about it I guess. Couldn’t find anything on the internet about it when I was looking.

I'm assuming debit only though? Last (and only time) I was in an ALDIs they wouldn't accept MasterCard.

ALDI accepts credit cards now. You still need a quarter to rent a shopping cart.

I love shopping at ALDI. Their prices are very low (often half or less that what I'd pay for name brand products at a regular grocery chain). I like their quality also.

It’s true. Used Apple Pay at Aldi yesterday. It wasn’t an option 3 days ago.

Our Aldi isn’t the best to shop at but only because it’s so busy. Added to that is that it’s small, so you can’t even move your cart around. Good news is they’re supposedly moving across the street to a location at least twice as large.

This just upped my Apple pay usage a ton, I get probably 70% of my groceries from Aldi. It’s such a great place to shop if you have one nearby, highly recommended if you’ve never checked out one.

You forgot to write a story about how Market Basket accepts it. Rather major grocery chain in the Boston area.

Shaws/Osco/Star Market (did I forget any other names? They have a lot of different brands in a lot of different markets) also accepts it.

We need restaurants to start accepting it.

Oh boy, an ALDI SÜD country! Poor Americans. :(
[doublepost=1506005834][/doublepost]It’s not a rent, it’s a pawn.

I've only shopped there once, but I didn't need to do anything like that... although I can't remember if I used a cart at all. I may have used a basket instead or just carried the individual items I needed.

Never heard of ALDI.

How bout some City Market, Kroger, King Soopers, Safeway, Albertsons.

What about Trader Joe? They are same company.

They do this for two reason, they don't have to pay someone to pick up the carts in the parking lot and it reduces people stealing them. They know if you don't take the cart back, someone else will to get the quarter.

already taking Apple Pay :)

Sprouts takes Apple Pay too. I sent a feedback message to Kroger to suggest Apple Pay and they rewarded me with nearly daily spam about things I was not interested in. That took a while to stop.

Kroger? Kroger? Buhler?

(I've yet to see it roll out here, for what it's worth. But it's in at least one location per the link.)

Isn't Apple Pay availability at the retail level just a matter of the store having a tap to pay point of sale terminal?

How retailers have implemented their POS systems in the US basically guarantees that they have to do significant work to get Apple Pay working--on top of what they have to do for chip acceptance. Long story.

Apple Pay has been out for a few years now, and still only a few stores support it in New Hampshire. Very annoying.
