Apple Pay Issues

I have tried to use Apple Pay twice already and it's not working. It's telling me to hold the device closer to the reader and it's annoying. I do have a case on it....is that the issue? It might be a stupid question but Im just curious.

McDonalds today and CVS last week (when CVS still had APPLE PAY enabled)

Well. How close WERE you holding it?

I've found literally 1-2 inches is when I get a response.

I had my 6 plus resting on the McDonald's pay terminal. When I pulled it like 6-7 inches away to put my fingerprint it didn't work. So I had to bring it back closer.
Takes practice but it's not that hard to get used to.

Yes, you do have to hover pretty close above the reader.
