Apple today announced that if you shop at select online retailers using Apple Pay from December 14 through December 21, you'll get a $5 App Store and iTunes Gift card. The offer is only valid for United States residents and while supplies last. Furthermore, Apple stated that there is a limit to one card per retail partner, suggesting you can get additional $5 cards if you shop at multiple online stores under the promotion.

Apple didn't specify if there is a minimum amount of money you have to spend to get the $5 card, but the company advised shoppers to see applicable partner websites for more information as the fine print might change on a retailer-by-retailer basis.

Here is the full list of Apple Pay partners participating in the promotion:

If you don't have Apple Pay set up yet, make sure to visit our guide on How to Set Up Apple Pay and Add Credit Cards. The latest addition to Apple Pay was the debut of Apple Pay Cash, which launched earlier in December and lets you directly pay friends and family members. If you have credit on your Apple Pay Cash Card, you can also use that to shop at the above retailers and get the $5 iTunes card.

Cool to see they are doing this. That’s one of two things I like about Samsung Pay, obviously MST, but Samsung Rewards as well. If apple had a rewards system in place with Apple Pay, I’d definitely look to use it tons more

The free $5 gift card is a nice gesture by Apple. Too bad this is a terrible selection of retailers. Who shops at these places?! Jony Ive?

So is this automatically credited to your iTunes account? How do you redeem the $5?
Most likely, since majority of Apple customers, their existing iTunes/AppleID account is also the one used to activate their ApplePay in the first place. Usually but not always.

My son has Samsung Pay setup on his phone. He's always getting points and rewards.

I agree Apple should set up something similar

I am curious about this as well. I made an Apple Pay purchase from Macy's around 2A CST today and have yet received no notification or credit to my iTunes account.

On 16th December (tomorrow) the App CheapCharts starts a big pre-christmas contest with some free iTunes cards.

For the first time, I used Apple Pay during this period to get a pair of dress pants from Express. The $5 iTunes card arrived shortly after in my email inbox.

It's not a bad deal for those who use iTunes for subscription based apps (Netflix, Apple Music, etc.) even if it was $5.
