There is an Apple Pay and Wallet outage that is causing some users to experience issues with Apple Pay web payments and in-app payments using Apple Pay.

According to Apple's System Status page, the outage began at 5:04 a.m. Eastern Time, and it is ongoing. Apple says that only "some users" are having problems, but there are multiple tweets about the payment issues.

Note that this is not affecting payments that are made using Apple Pay in retail stores, with those Apple Pay purchases working fine. Apple does say that some users could experience issues managing, purchasing, or topping-up transit cards.

There is no word yet on when the Apple Pay outage might be resolved, but we'll update this article when Apple says that the Apple Pay issues have been addressed.

Update: Apple's status page has been updated to indicate the issue has been resolved.

Wow. Does that mean you got the amount of money that Tim Cook has? Congratulations! You won the Apple lottery! ;-)

No problems using it yesterday. Don't need anything today yet. If I do, I can always use the card. Or another card. Or another card…

Oh that explains my issue earlier. I thought it was the app I was using it in. Although I didn't have an issue using it in person.

Had me panicking for a second there, I thought I'd not be able to pay with my phone at Burger King. 😰

Anyone experience the APPLE MUSIC app outage with 6th 7th and 8th gen iPads, been having issues since 17.1, apparently the engineers are working on a solution , there has been two updates since , but no fix.

In other news, a select minority of Apple customers saved more money than usual this month. And during Christmas too... Analysts are trying to figure it out.

I did not know this... pretty shocking for a stock App to be down like that. On hardware thats not that old considering current cycles.

There are still Tweets? I thought that they'd be XClamations.

Working retail, I'd see lots of Apple Pay issues close to Christmas, even for those with loads of money in their accounts. Server problems would be most likely.

I wondered why it didn't work last night. Twice tried to buy some furniture, approved on my Apple Watch, got the tick and then nothing happened on the merchant's site. Had to use PayPal in the end and was worried Apple would charge me twice.

Apple Support Communities portal has about 10 pages of user complaints etc , surprisingly not a single reply from APPLE on there ....

The outage got me, I thought I was doing something wrong, glad to see that it was Apple's fault. I really like how the Apple Pay is more secure, I hope they keep these outages to a minimum.

I've found the Apple Support Communities to be mostly useless, for multiple reasons. Annoying, you'd think a company that prides itself on good service would do better.

my apple apple pay is not working right now as I try to buy an apple gift card from the Apple Store with it on the app. I contacted apple support and they told me there was an outage but I read nothing about it...
