Hi All,

I have a question regarding Apple Pay. Here in the UK you can use Apple Pay in the tube to tap in and tap out.

Can I tap in with my iPhone and then tap out with my Apple Watch since they're associated with the same card?

Thanks

Yes you can use either at any time. Since it is anonymous it won't matter.

EDIT: There may be a problem. While they are anonymous they do use different Account numbers. I guess you are confirming the same person on exit (not paying) and this could be a problem since it will be a different (unknown passenger) number. Does it use the Device Account Number as some type of identifier?

But they both use the same account number just different devices, meaning they're both connected to the same debit card. Couldn't find any clarification on the web.

No, they DON'T use your CC number. They use an anonymous Device Account Number instead. The Device Account Number identifies the device and is a 'token' CC number than can't be traced back to you. The problem is that each device has a unique Device Account Number is assigned to it by your CC compony. Same CC but different Device Account Numbers on each device (iPhone and Apple Watch).

Also look in

Settings>Wallet & Apple Pay>Cards>Device Account Number
Watch>Wallet & Apple Pay>Cards>Device Account Number

and you can see the same CC has different Device Account Numbers

Here is a good explanation of the way Apple Pay works.

No! TFL doesn't know they're the same card even though your bank does. Touch in and out with the same device or it'll all go wrong and get costly.

Please note: it's entirely possible I made this up.

googling "TFL Apple Pay" would have been quicker than typing this question up, no?

You're entirely correct.
