Apple Pay with Watch Not Working After Upgrade to 14 Pro

My 14 Pro arrived yesterday and I completed the activation/upgrade from my 11 Pro today. Since then, any time I try to use my watch with Apple Pay, the card is declined. This is happening with all my cards. I activated the new phone with a backup that was done just an hour or so before and I went through the steps of entering/verifying the security codes on the backs of all the cards. Did I miss a step somewhere? Phone is on 16.0.2 and I'm using a series 6 watch on OS 9.0.

i have exact the same problem. the same card works flawlessly an my iphone 14 pro with apple pay, but not with my apple watch series 7. i deleted the card from the watch and after 3 or 4 attempts it was added to the watch with the info that it’s ready for use with apple pay. but everytime i try to use it, it shows on the display but doesn’t work. iPhone and watch on the newest ios/ watch os

Have you tried to remove the cards completely from the phone and re install them in both the phone and watch?

yes. but with no different result. working on iphone - not working on watch.

Remove cards from Apple wallet in watch app and add them again.
