hi i just bought the apple pencil 2 and IPP 11. the apple pencil arrived first, and the IPP is still stuck at customs ( and probably for a couple more days because of the holiday season and covid),, I opened it immediately right when i got it to check the item. Is my apple pencil already on right out of the box? i read somewhere that the batteries don't last long and i dont know where to charge it.
how long can an apple pencil 2 go without charging? and will it stop working if i let it without battery charge?

I wouldn't worry. These things will usually be shipped around in, well, ships, then sit in warehouses or the store rooms of shops for weeks or months before they end up in customers' hands. A couple of days in your house won't change anything, nor will opening the box have made any difference.

To answer your questions.

- There is no on or off switch. So it is "on", although it may have some mechanism to know when it is being used and turn on an off automatically (a quick check of Apple's site did not turn up any info).

- The charge can run down. If it runs down completely will stop working. If this happens just charge it. And as noted above, you charge it by placing it on the side of the iPad with the volume buttons, it attaches magnetically.

So, as also noted above, you have nothing to worry about. Once your iPad arrives you'll either be able to use it straight away, or you'll need to charge it via the iPad.

Good luck and enjoy them both.
