I have just taken delivery of a new Sony A7RV and have decided to use HIF files in place of where I used to use JPG, having observed a significant improvement in quality and reduction in size with HIF files. I tend to use a mix of RAW and HIF files, but for Photos I use the HIF files and in LRC I use both RAW and HIF.
The problem as observed, is that Photos takes longer to import HIF files and longer to display them, taking a perceptible amount of time (1 to 3 seconds to display them). LRC does not have this problem and both the import and display time is imperceptible for HIF files.
Has anyone else seen this issue and if so, is there an option that can reduce the time taken to both import and display HIF files in Photos? I am using a MBPro M1 MAX with 64GB memory and 4 TB SSD with Sonoma 14.1.1.
Thanks for any help of observations you may have.
