Apple recently gave a straight-to-series order for an upcoming TV show about film legend Hedy Lamarr, which is set to star Gal Gadot, reports Variety.

The show follows the true story of actress, film producer, and inventor Hedy Lamarr, who starred in 30 films and co-invented an early version of frequency-hopping spread spectrum.
"Hedy Lamarr" will follow the true story of the Hollywood glamour girl, spanning 30 years from Lamarr's escape from pre-war Vienna; to her meteoric rise in the Golden Age of Hollywood; to her fall and eventual disgrace at the dawn of the Cold War. The show will also go into Lamarr's life as an inventor, including one invention that became the basis for spread spectrum technology used today.
The series, which was originally being developed for Showtime, features eight episodes written by Sarah Treem, who previously worked on "The Affair" and "House of Cards." Gal Gadot, known for "Wonder Woman," will executive produce and star in the series.

Apple picked up the show after a souring relationship between writer Treem and Showtime after Ruth Wilson, star actress in "The Affair," left the series. Wilson at the time accused Treem of creating a hostile work environment, which Treem denied, but the dispute ended with Treem cutting ties with Showtime.

"Hedy Lamarr" will join other Apple TV+ dramas with major Hollywood actors like "The Morning Show," "Defending Jacob," and "Truth Be Told," plus it will mark Gadot's first television series.

Love Gal Gadot, but I’ve never seen her in anything where she didn’t use her natural accent. Hope her voice coach can get her to do a transatlantic accent which was common for the time and industry she worked in.

No matter how much I likes me some Gal Gadot I'll be cancelling my AppleTV+ subscription come November. I've yet to watch a single thing on it after having it 6 months.
So you declare you are cancelling it 6 months before you have to make a choice and before 6 months before all future Apple TV+ announcements yet to be made? And have you not watched anything you like yet or just not watched anything at all? Kind of hard to judge TV content if you don't even watch it.

Hedy Lamarr was quite impressive, and Gal Gadot was fabulous in Wonder Woman - I look forward to this.
Love Gal, but like others have noted, she's going to need a vocal coach. I don't think she can do anything outside of her natural accent.

Too bad Ruth Wilson is no longer involved. She is a terrific actress. Although, she will always and only ever be Alice Morgan in my heart.

Interesting, I'd stumbled long ago on a poem by a gunner from a bomber during world war 2 that was published in Stars and Stripes (1943) but it starts out by naming this woman. Had no idea who she was. "Oh, Hedy Lamarr is a beautiful gal And Madeline Carroll is too;..."

I had only heard Hedy Lamarr's name a few times, but a few years ago there was, of all things, a DC Legends of Tomorrow show airs where she turned up. And apparently, aside from the Helen of Troy plot circling around Hedy's appearance, they got the facts correct about Lamarr as actress and inventor.

This may be the first thing on Apple TV+ that I am truly interested in.
