Apple has scored the rights to an upcoming sci-fi comedy drama from Ben Stiller, Noah Hawley, and "Palm Springs" team Andy Samberg and Andy Siara, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Apple apparently won a bid for the show over the weekend, which is based on an original idea from "BoJack Horseman" creator and author Raphael Bob-Waksberg. The project is untitled as of yet.

Andy Samberg will produce and star in the series, while Stiller and Bob-Waksberg will serve as producers on the show. Andy Siara will write the script and will also serve as an executive producer. The show received interest thanks to "Palm Springs," a 2020 Hulu movie starring Andy Samberg and Cristin Milloti.

In other Apple TV+ news, Geoffrey Arend has joined the cast of "Physical," an upcoming comedy drama starring Rose Byrne. "Physical" is set in a 1980s Southern California beach community and will follow a woman struggling in her role as a tortured housewife who finds a path to power through the world of aerobics.

Apple should buy the rights to the Spellmonger series. A synthesis of high fantasy and science fiction.

I will absolutely be watching this series. Andy is brilliant in Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Stiller is great in everything he does. Can’t wait!

I love SF but not that much of it is really that good or imagination stirring. Foundation could be great. It is a classic book though now very basic and old fashioned, however it could work on the screen.
A pity that they didn’t pick up 3 Body Problem (Netflix did), those books are really at the forefront of modern SF.
Still, Apple could pick up the Revelation Space or Commonwealth or Spin books for cutting edge SF adaptations.

Had Apple TV+ for 4 months now. This might be the second show I will watch. Ted Lasso was great.

Palm Springs is a must watch. The writing is brilliant. I was looking forward to see what he'd do next. Ben Stiller is Producing lately. Can't hardly wait.

I found nothing yet on TV+ I would want to watch except A Charlie Brown Christmas, the channel is just not for me. I hope this series will change that because I love SF.

Apple just doesn't get it, imagine an all-ages music service. Just stupid.

Have you watched See? There's some proper violence in that. This idea that Apple TV content is expressly "all ages" seems pretty nonsense to me judging by what I've watched on there.

I was just asking myself what it would look like if Wes Anderson's next project was a Sci-Fi film.

I'm all for anything that doesn't look like more "a gaggle of ignorant violent idiots with peashooters vying for power on a dreary dark & pointless spaceship" sci-fi. It isn't sci-fi, it's just low-fi fi.

Apple is allegedly making a series of the book “Foundation”. I’ve been looking forward to that. Right now there is nothing I want to watch on Apple TV+ so far...
I have to admit I've watched a few Apple TV+ series, and they've mostly been ho hum at best, and bordering on leftist extremist morality values propaganda at worst, but have a go at Ted Lasso, it's my fav TV series of all time. Oh and the Tom Hanks naval movie was fun too. PS, I've never paid for the subscription, and never will.

VERY exciting! I loved Andy in B99. He's a legit funny guy and the Lonely Island shorts were the best thing out of SNL in recent memory. Ben Stiller has directed some solid stuff too. A must watch for me.

Aha, I found it. Standard settings are all ages, I had to manually set that in the account settings.
The main website also doesn't have a search function or anything but I guess that has more to do with the limited offerings. Apple should buy a catalogue to kickstart it.
