Apple has given a straight to series order for "Shining Girls," a metaphysical thriller that will star actress Elisabeth Moss, Apple announced today.

The TV show, which will be coming to Apple TV+, is based on 2013 novel "The Shining Girls" from Lauren Beukes, and it will be executive produced by Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way production company.

The book focuses on Kirby Mizrachi, a Chicago reporter who survives an attempted murder by a time-traveling Depression-era serial killer and then teams up with a homicide reporter to track down her would-be killer and bring him to justice. Moss will play the woman who is attacked and then hunts down the murderer.

In addition to starring in the series, Moss will also serve as an executive producer alongside DiCaprio. Moss is best known for shows like "The Handmaid's Tale" and "Mad Men," but she has also starred in several movies like "Us" and "The Invisible Man."

"The Shining Girls" joins several other drama series at Apple TV+, such as "Defending Jacob," "Truth Be Told," and "The Morning Show." There's no word yet on when it will be released.

Miss Thing better finish Handmaid’s Tale before she moves on to other projects because I need season 4 to resume ASAP.

Isn’t she most known for «Mad Men»?

Should be, but I suppose if whoever wrote that is an 18-19yo, mad men ran and ended by the time they were 13-14, so they may have just seen it on her IMDb and thought it sounded like some old show their parents watched. Moss was essential & absolutely spectacular as the viewers eyes & ears into that world.

I get it, you guys like Mad Men. I've just never seen it so it didn't immediately come to mind. Added it to the article, apologies for the omission!

Jeez. For an actress who's starred in an iconic series likes Mad Men (where she played an important but unlikeable character) and the haunting gem Top of the Lake (which is almost never mentioned as it's a BBC UK/New Zealand drama not US), the premise of this time-travelling crime drama doesn't exactly scream quality tv. But then that's hardly a surprise for ATV+.

This sounds right up my alley. I'm not sure I'll like it though - I absolutely hate Elisabeth Moss as a person due to her scientology connections and some of the comments she has made in general.
The actor's job is to feel and express that feeling in such a way that we feel it as well. Too much rational thinking gets in their way. So, many great actors have absolutely ludicrous opinions about all sorts of things. I think if you want to enjoy what someone like Moss can do--and she is a marvelously talented and skilled actress--you have to divorce her performances from what you have read about her opinions.
