Apple is planning to offer a new "Ring in the New Year" Apple Watch Activity Challenge starting on Saturday, January 1.

The Activity Challenge will require users to close all three of their Fitness rings for seven days in a row in January. That means meeting all stand, exercise, and move goals for a week.

As with all of Apple's Activity Challenges, the New Year challenge will be accompanied by an award that can be viewed in the Fitness app as well as a series of animated stickers that can be used in the Messages app.

Apple has hosted a New Year challenge for many years running now, and it is one of many Activity Challenges that Apple offers throughout the year to encourage people to meet their Fitness goals.

Imma need to do this. Must get back to being a skinny legend. I lost 60lbs in 2019 using my Apple Watch, gained 50lbs during 2020 pandemic times, and have only lost 5lbs since then. Ugh. I've had multiple small injuries too, likely because I'm not as strong as I used to be, which keeps interrupting my exercise routine and keeps me from getting into a rhythm. I'll even start super slow, and something invariably goes wrong.

I'm very frustrated right now. It's not like I just sit on my ass all day either. I cleared very thick brush (couldn't see 3ft past your face) by hand using manual tools in the forested portion of my property, built my kids a treehouse, built them a swingset, currently working on building them a play area with a climbing dome and landscaping that, and have worked on other landscaping and yard maintenance and woodworking projects + a few evening walks of several miles during the week but apparently that's not enough. Wondering if I need to go to extremes and get a standing desk with treadmill or something. Working from home is rough on the body!

I assumed they were giving up on these. No Thanksgiving. I feel like the achievements gone down hill. I have had my watch from Day 1 and I'd rather work on my Peloton achievements. Apple makes these seem like an afterthought.

I feel you. The last two years have been brutal, mentally and physically. But I know better times are ahead, especially if we get out there and close those rings! You got this!

(And who says MR is only toxicity and complaints? ;))

I can relate to this, frustrating as heck. For myself I have to force into my brain constantly that 60%+ of the weight loss efforts is the food… just calories counting could be enough even when eating garbage (although it will show somewhere else as less quality sleep, less energies, etc which will translate to less exercises and more eating).

I mostly exercise daily, 5Km to 10Km runs depending on time and target pace (got a 243km November challenge as proof), no matter if it is 5F or 85F (Canada winter/summer) and always do either dips or pull ups every time I go to the restroom, grab a coffee or take a break from the chair for a total of hundred+ dips or pull-ups a day… even then I can gain weight if I eat a tad too much.

But motivation is there! Thanks for sharing, it has motivated me too. Gotta remember that it’s a hard fight.

Apple should add a "all rings, every day, all year" challenge.
I did it in 2017, and had a bit of a sad when the app didn't recognize it.

Why is my 2021 award STILL missing from my new iphone since I moved everything over, yet is still on my Apple Watch? It's been more than a month now and I lost probably the best sticker set from these. (with the little circle walking the smaller circle dog) WTH Apple...?

I fulfilled a challenge once, didn't get the icon, and three days later it just showed up. No notice, no idea that it came, and no idea why it wasn't bestowed earlier. I was prepped for 'awards' by owning a Nike Fuelband for years, and loved getting their acknowledgements daily. It was so bad, the wife told someone within ear shot of me that she feels like she's competing against my Fuelband becasue I was fixated on filling the day. I would nearly panic towards the end of the day if I didn't get it. Now, the Apple Watch does the same thing, in a much better way. She thinks I'm married to the AW now. I'm always working off the day. All to potentially live longer. (Yeah, I laugh at that some days)

Why did they skip Thanksgiving?

Any idea what happened to the Thanksgiving one this year? ?
Limited resources at Apple. Looks like all they people that say why is Apple focusing on "new emojis" when "iOS .X" is a total disaster. Looks like they might have been right after all! ;)

Ya, going out for a walk in the park can get you killed. ?

Getting badges, discovering new badges, being reminded about special badges, it's all a mess. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that has stuff like that happen.

This Challenge still hasn’t appeared for me! Anyone else not getting it either??

I don’t understand. First no Turkey Day, and now this?? How hard is it to give us Challenges??
