it's funny you should post that link since i posted it in response to you in another thread where you adamantly said that apple never would go to a 6th beta......... lol

Well I was adamant because of previous versions of iOS. It only went past 5 betas for iPhone OS 2.

yea, so there is a history of it going to 6 and 8 betas, which you seemed to think it hadn't, nice to see you research your adamant statements before saying them...

Was basing it off a majority of iOS versions.

EDIT: By the way, i'm merely reporting what I read on 9to5mac, I don't necessarily agree / believe there will be a 6th beta.

Maybe not, but these same people, that cracked the code, also said that there would be a Sat drop.
Or so they say. I'd be more inclined to believe it if they actually posted it before beta 5 was released.

Although they didn't make an actual post,

"The sources, who provided us with the exact date and time of today’s iOS 5 beta 5 release (which we were skeptical of – because it was a Saturday), warns that because we are still days away from the planned release, the seeding can be delayed due to bugs or other reasons out of our control."

I guess it was because they were skeptical.

Apple has recently released iOS 5 beta 5 for iphone,iPad and iPod Touch and now Apple is planning to seed iOS 5 beta 6 for iPhone,iPad and iPod Touch for the Developers on 17th August, 2011.It has started from iOS 5 beta 4,as more and more iOS beta series being continued to be seeded, OTA,Actually these are ‘Over the Air updates’ meaning that you won’t need to download the whole IPSW firmware file which is more than 700 MB size, but if you have faster internet connection,it will take you about five minutes to download OTA update file otherwise normal speed takes up approximately half an hour.

The majority of iOS versions haven't had to introduce something that could potentially brick so many phones such as switching to over the air deltas.

To be honest, they also didn't enter beta testing in such an obviously unfinished state as iOS5 beta 1 did, so more betas will be required.

They told 9to5mac that the beta 5 would be on Saturday, and now they say 17th of this month. Why would they fool everyone?

The sources tweeted it at 1:00 pm EST on Friday. 9to5 held unitl they could verify their information, that is why the ran with the second date.

Not a singifincat issue, but a good find. We will see it when it releases.
