Apple, please understand your customers take selfies

OP is right. Selfies are going to happen, regardless of how "uncool" you think they are. They should have upgraded the front camera. Won't stop me from getting the phone though.

They're just going to end up compressed by Facebook and Instagram anyway.

Plus do you really want people zooming in on selfies? Just make the low light performance of the front camera so night club group selfies aren't a blury mess.

Isn't the iphone 6+ selfie camera is 2.1px now?

No. It just takes in 81% more light.

The images always look terrible when NOT zoomed in. We should have at least got 5MP by now. I'd settle for 3 at this point.

I guess all the money went into the display tech so springing for better front face camera isn't for this year.

It's not about selfies. Sometimes friends and family do this for group shots. It's not always just one person being self centered.

There's a bit of irony in this thread. Now you know how left handers feel about the Apple Watch. There's something good on the other side, but you just can't reach it. :)

the front facing camera is why when you are using face time it always looks so snowy, because the front camera is bad.

Certainly looks nothing like the advertised "screenshots". :p

I'm a lefty, but I find it more comfortable to wear watches on my left wrist anyway.

Buy a real camera.

I have a couple of "real" cameras. Why do you assume?

Everyone's missing Apple's plan...

The Watch can be used as a camera viewfinder, so you can take a selfie with the rear-facing camera and use the Watch to make sure it's aimed properly.

Some people might suggest it's unfair to make people pay $350+ to take a good selfie. Those people aren't AAPL shareholders. :p

What's with the STILL low 1.2MP camera on the front face?

That's right because when Apple were designing the front camera there priority was selfies.

Rubbish. Anyway, didn't you see the previews of the front camera pictures, they looked great quality.

Most selfies are of duckfaces, odd angles and/or partially cut off people mainly because it hides their hideousness. The lower the resolution, the better.

It's these ridiculous snarky comments that really gets on my nerves with MacForums users. Chill the hell out, yo. Folks take selfies with themselves or with other people too. Get over it. It's a part of culture. You're not cool not understanding this any longer.

Anyways, my biggest gripe is with FaceTime. The resolution leaves so much more to be desired on every front cam on the iPhone, and the 6 looks to be more of the same - marginal improvement that doesn't translate well enough for the packets sent during a FaceTime call. 3MP should've been the base resolution to start from in engineering. Possibly the thin frame hindered this base resolution from happening.
