Apple Power Macintosh G5 2.0, 2003 - PCI WiFi/Bluetooth card?

Hi!
Is there any way to use a PCI card for 802.11n, and optionally bluetooth on the same card as well?

Is there such a card at all? Does it work on 10.5.8? I want to use something faster than the original 802.11g card. Do not want USB as well.

P.S. Is there a bluetooth card for the original connector which supports BT 2.0?

Not exactly sure what you are asking, so let me state what I think I am hearing and you can correct me…

1. You want to use a different WiFi card. But not one that uses USB.
2. Since the BT card is integrated with the Airport Express card it means you'll lose BT if you get a different WiFi card.
3. Because of #2 you are trying to find a different BT device so you can keep BT.

My fuzziness is with #2 and I cannot help you with #1.

However, I can most certainly help with #3. I've been using Belkin BT 2.0 USB adapters for a few years. They work natively with no driver installation and brought BT 2.0 to a G3 and a G4.

On my Quad I DO have the BT card and Airport Extreme, but there's still enough interference with the BT card to cause mouse jumpiness and lag so I went back to using my Belkin adapter.

Both the internal device and my adapter are active but the adapter overrides the internal (which is what I want).

Just got another two over Christmas on eBay. You can get one for $11. It's USB, but it will work off one of your keyboards USB ports (I have mine plugged into the left side). It's convenient and keeps the adapter out of the way while making for a very short distance between the adapter and my Magic Mouse.

I don't think any combo 802.11 + Bluetooth cards exist for PCI-X Macs. It should be totally possible to get an 802.11n PCI card that'll work, but I really think you're stuck going with USB if you want Bluetooth 2+ on a pre-PCIe G5.

Thanks! I want opposite combination for #2 - A combo PCI-X (Bluetooth + WiFi) card since the original option for my G5 is 2 separate cards with slow WiFi/BT1.1

...I am not sure whether there is an original BT adapter card which supports BT2.0 as well.

There seems to be some PCI ac/BT4.0. combo cards, but sellers state they support 10.7. +

When I had a Dual G4, I bought a cheap PCI Wireless card (around £7) that was advertised as compatible in the small print - you have to look around.
I also bought a USB 2.0 PCI card - this had an internal USB port in addition to the 4 external ones, I popped a 99p Bluetooth bud in there which worked perfectly.

My router was b/g so can't remember. The bluetooth was only used for file transfers to retro PDAs and phones and never had a problem in that regard.
I tend to buy dirt cheap peripherals that can be used on PC if they don't speak Mac - I avoid "Made For Mac" bits unless absolutely essential as I'm not keen on the price hike.

Have you considered an Edimax USB wireless bud?
