apple powerbook g4 display issue (pixels)

boots up and at one point its clear but a small rectangle box that has the same pixelated thing as the pictures. Than it goes the whole screen.

My inclination would be that it's an issue with display cable.

Can you give us more details about the computer?

i.e. is it a Titanium or Aluminum PB? If it's a Ti, knowing whether it's a VGA or DVI model can help us track down the problem. If an aluminum, the size and processor speed matter.

I would doubt the problem is RAM related.

Ram wouldn't cause this as far as I know, like Bunns said, it is probably the display cable.

Re-seating the cable would be a pain since the PowerBook will have to be disassembled.

If the machine locks up totally in addition to showing the artifacts then it maybe RAM related. Try using an external display and seeing if the issue occurs.
