Apple has previewed Apple Al Maryah Island, a new retail store from the company in Abu Dhabi's financial district that is set to open this Friday.

Elevated above steps of cascading water, Apple Al Maryah Island introduces several new store design elements that are reflective of its surroundings. "Absolute Black" granite stone has been used to pave two ramps that cut through the water and lead inside the store, while a golden carbon fiber roof, vaguely reminiscent of a MacBook lid, can be seen from above.

Visitors who enter from The Galleria Al Maryah Island Mall walk through a mirrored stainless steel portal surrounded by water jets that cascade over the exterior glass walls, while a 72-foot-long mirrored foil ceiling creates a kaleidoscopic effect, with water falling down the walls, and reflections seen above.

"We couldn't be more thrilled to open the stunning Apple Al Maryah Island this Friday," said Deirdre O'Brien, Apple's senior vice president of Retail + People. "Our talented team is ready to welcome and delight customers from this vibrant community to our newest location in the Emirates."

The store opens to first visitors on Friday, February 25, at 5 p.m. local time, and Apple has planned three special Today at Apple sessions that draw inspiration from the surroundings and creative culture of Abu Dhabi, including a Photo, Music, and Art Walk. For those seeking a closer view, YouTuber Emkwan has a first-look video of the store.

Wow this looks pretty ? does the UAE still have no sales tax? I remember when I went to the Dubai Mall and randomly crossed through the Apple Store to get a nice view of the fountains from the balcony, I ended up leaving with an iPad Pro ?

We now have a 5% VAT on all goods and services… But no Sales Tax…

Looks incredible.
It’d be great if Apple would also open new stores in Europe, like in Berlin for example.
AASP’s don’t really cut it and one single genuine Apple Store for a City like Berlin isn’t enough. The store is always ram packed. Hamburg has 2 and they are overcrowded, too.

Apple Rosenthaler Strasse, the second store in Berlin, opened on December 2, 2021.

Looking forward to the Vancouver, BC store opening in Canada. This city needs a flag ship store and that build, opposite the art gallery square looks impressive already. Should open this year based on how far along the construction is. A friends construction company is involved and there’s a lot of red tape, but when you consider each sheet of glass is over a $1m. Similar roof and glass front to this store but in silver (space grey?). Kind of makes me want to go back and work for them again.

Wow this is a great reason to return to Dubai Expo 2020, aka the World Fair now in Dubai till March 30.
Was there in December for 2 weeks. Best vacation of my life.

A couple pics...

1) Expo entrance - Actually functioning Bots were roaming everywhere. Food delivery bots, Kid play bots that the kids were drawn to like magnets, and in this one, the police bot. "I am here for your safety. Please let me pass."

2) Saudi Arabia's amazing cantilevered pavilion

3) Germany pavilion's sea of ideas about sustainability. Note the child drowning in the yellow idea balls on top left.

4) Ukraine pavilion's example of new fashion. Lightest weight warmth with anti-facial recognition tech.

The 2 women staffing the pavilion said they were worried for their families and hoped the US would help their country in the event Russia invaded.

Having lived in Abū Dhabi several years I must say that this location is amazing: The Galeria Mall is a quite exclusive place where to shop luxury brands and have dinner in classy restaurants, while the other store in Yas Mall is located in a more affordable place.

Great move BTW, this should the the fourth Apple store in the UAE IIRC.

Gorgeous. Would love to see in person someday. It will be interesting to see how stores handle live demos of VR/AR in the future — imagine there will be long lines…

mIs this just a thread to prompt Abu Dhabi? Placed by a bot. I personally have no desire to visit such a corrupt place. I hope people educate themselves before visiting. There are many beautiful places in the world that deserve your tourism money before a petro state / shopping mall.

Have you been there? I've been to Abu Dhabi, I will visit Dubai soon, and I wish I can afford to live there. The city is gorgeous and another Apple store will only make things even better.

Finally we can drive to a beautiful store close by. The other one was in the Yas mall, which was a bit of a drive :)
