Below are two link to both the US and the Aus mac stores and their respective pricings of the same produce - the 24" Apple LED display.

US: $899

AUS: $1499

Current currency rate: 1 Australian dollar = .90-94 US dollars/cents.

So to convert $899 US to AUS Dollars is a little less than $1000

So we're all sitting here like chumps thinking; "Hey, where'd my five hundred dollars go?"

It wasn't 90c to the dollar when they released the product.

Apple don't change their prices daily according to international exchange rates.

It costs more to sell a product here than it does in the US due to economies of scale.

AU price includes GST. US price doesn't include the various state and city taxes which can push the price up by more than 10% in some cases.

Yes, it costs too much.

No, it's not likely to change anytime soon.
